BIK, i.e. the Credit Information Bureau, stores data on the financial liabilities of customers of banks and some financial institutions. Based on this information, a given customer’s scoring is created and its ability to pay its debts on time is verified. Unfortunately, the data contained in the BIK may sometimes make it difficult or impossible to receive a loan. Many people in such a situation are wondering how to clean BIK from its entries.
First of all, it should be remembered that not all information about financial liabilities placed in BIK works to the detriment of a given person, reducing their creditworthiness. Quite the opposite – several entries about timely repayment of credit cards, installments for refrigerators or installments of cash loans have a positive impact on the assessment of a potential borrower. The problem arises when there are unpaid loans on the account or those whose installments were not paid in a timely manner. Therefore, to take care of the profile at BIK, you must regularly pay back liabilities and watch their deadlines.
It should be remembered that the BIK score has increased, you need to pay installments on time, do not exceed the deadline or pay ahead of schedule. In addition, you must pay more than 6 months. Sometimes “clean” BIK (no information about loans) is sometimes less reliable for the bank than BIK supplemented with information about repaid loans.
In addition to data on past and current liabilities, the BIK also stores information about the fact that the consumer has submitted a credit application – regardless of whether it is a mortgage application or a cash loan for consumption. Many recorded rejections of such applications have a negative impact on the assessment of creditworthiness. When submitting them, it is worth remembering not to apply to many institutions – two or three applications should be sufficient (if the creditworthiness is high enough), and at the same time they do not significantly affect the assessment of the consumer by the bank. However, what if the entries are negative? How to delete an entry from BIK?
How to delete an entry in BIK? Is it worth to trust “cleaners”?
There are many companies on the financial services market offering BIK cleaning to desperate clients. What does it mean? Such enterprises, for an appropriate fee, take certain steps on behalf of their client to remove the “uncomfortable” entry from BIK and increase the borrower’s chances of receiving a loan.
Is there a catch in this procedure? Yes – all actions taken by the “cleaners” mentioned above can be carried out on your own, free of charge and consulting with an external service provider. However, there is a restriction that also applies to company representatives who know how to clean BIK. These restrictions are contained in the Banking Law Act and relate to specific circumstances in which you can apply for removing specific entries from your profile in the Credit Information Bureau. These are:
- situations in which a potential borrower notices information in his profile that is inconsistent with the facts;
- willingness to withdraw consent to the processing of data on previously repaid credit (if it was repaid on time) or expiry of the consent to data processing after the expiry of the previously declared period for which consent was granted;
- 5 years from the date of repayment of a specific loan.
Most often, these companies know how to delete an entry in BIK by referring to the above-mentioned situations, although the borrower can actually do it himself by submitting an application to BIK via the bank where he plans to take out a loan. “Cleaners” are trying to prove that their client has not been informed about the entry to BIK in due time or his consent has not been respected. If these arguments are true, then the “uncomfortable” entry will be deleted, although in most cases this does not happen – and the client loses several hundred or even several thousand zlotys to pay for such a company.
How to unsubscribe from BIK? You can try to do it yourself!
If someone is wondering how to unsubscribe from BIK on their own, they can try to apply the strategy of “cleaning” companies. An attempt to prove irregularities of entries or to prove the fact that a borrower has not been informed about a given entry within a specified time can be made – as already mentioned – through the bank where the person is applying for a loan. The institution, in turn, submits the application for consideration to BIK, and the interested party only awaits its verification and response. Unfortunately, if the entry with the problematic credit has been made correctly (with respect to the client’s consent to the processing of credit data and in a timely manner), it will not be deleted upon request.
It is worth remembering that banks do not immediately apply to BIK for a negative entry regarding the client’s situation. If you have trouble paying your installments, you should go to an advisor (preferably the one who granted the loan) to talk about restructuring your liability or postponing the repayment. Thanks to such measures, it is possible to effectively avoid providing negative information about a loan taken out in the Credit Information Bureau and to secure the future when a loan is needed again.
